Webon Tip: Upload Once, Use Multiple Times

Did you know...

...  that you can re-use the same piece of media as many times as you want?

It's true. When you upload any media to Webon be it Image, Video, Audio, or Document you can re-use it on your site as often as you like without uploading it again.

For example... when you upload an image you can drag it onto a page a place it there. You can then go to a different page and drag it onto that page as well. All it does in each case is reference the original image you uploaded. It's very handy when you have a company logo you want to put in the header of every page.

Or perhaps you have a PDF of directions to your business and you want to make a link to it in the foter of every page next to your address... upload it once and make as many links to it as you need. All the links simply point to the same file... contained in your Media Manager.

Once uploaded you can drag-and-drop any media or file onto your website as many times as you like without uploading it again.

Don't forget your contact info! It's not that uncommon to come across a website with great content that has a cool product or service available and one of the most fundamental pieces of information is either missing or buried in the site... namely: the contact info. A large percentage of visitors to almost any website are simply looking for a way to contact you... it's always a good idea to oblige them with easy access to your contact details. The top 4 approaches are:

1. A "Contact Us" page in your site's navigation... with all your details included on that page.
2. The Header area... putting your contact info right at the top of the page makes it hard to miss.
3. The Sidebar... this is a handy place to keep it.
4. The Footer (often on every page) - this is very common and many web visitors will think to look down there for it.

Changing Publish Locations in Webon

Did you know that you can change the published url of your Webon site after it has been published?  You can!  You can change your published url as often as you want to or need to.  To do this, please follow the steps below:

 

1. Log in to the Control Panel and go to your Webon Site
2. Select "Unpublish" from the drop-down arrow
3. Click the "Save & Publish" link
4. Select your publishig location.  You can publish to the root directory or to a subdirectory

   

5. Click the "Publish" button once your selection is made
6. Once your site is finished publishing, you will see the screen below with the url of your site

 

 

Reapply Webon Styles

Webon Styles have been going through updates lately.  If you are noticing problems with your style, please try to reapply your style.  Go to the the Styles tab, select the same style that you currently have and you should see the "Style Changed" box pop up.  This will refresh your style code and may resolve some issues you are having.

The updates that we have made to the styles is primarily to the code behind the styles.  You will not see any changes in the look of the styles, we have made improvements to them based on feedback from our customers and problems they are seeing as well making sure they work better with the new editor.

Here is a list of styles that have recently been updated:

• Americana
  
• Gasp
• Jagged
• Scraps
• Tranquility

Styles will be getting updated over the next few weeks, this is not a final list.
 

 

Webon Search Feature

We have recently added a search box to the Webon Sitebuilder.  This search box is provided on each tab.  When running a search, it will only search for the filename on that particular tab and folder within Webon.

If you cannot find an image or you don't want to scroll through a number of pages in your Media Tab, you can enter part or the entire file name to locate the desired image within the selected tab. Below is a screenshot of what my Media Manager would like like:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For example, I entered the search term "nature" and now only images with the word nature should appear in my list of available images, as displayed below:

 

Clear Text Formatting Tool

Clear Text Formatting allows you to revert your text back to the default text format for the selected style. This feature is especially handy when you have pasted text from another source into the Site Builder and the formatting did not carry over correctly. Simply, select the text you wish to fix and click “Clear Text Formatting”.

For example, I pasted the text below onto my Webon page, however as you can see from the screenshot the text did not copy over that well:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see from the screeshot above, the text is not very appealing.  If I then select the text and click on the "Clear Text Formatting" button, my text will now look like the screenshot below, which is the default text style for the particular Webon style I have selected:

Tripod Blog: Updating Blog Link Groups

Did you know...

...that you can change or delete your Link Groups and links within a group that appear in the navigation bar in your Tripod Blog?  Yes, you can and it is very easy to do.   Please follow these easy steps:

1. Log in to the Blog Builder Editor
2. Click on "Manage Links" under the Blog Appearance section
3. Select the Group that you wish to edit from the drop down and click the "Go" button
   

Once the group that you wish to edit has been selected, you can now:

• Delete the group
• Change the Title of the group
• Add additional links to the group
• Delete links from the group
• Change the link url or title within a group
  

In the Manage Links Edit screen you can also add a Group of Links to the navigation.  Simply, click on the "Create a New Group of Links" button, give the Group a name and start adding links to the new group.

Did you know...

...that you can change your Webon style as many times as you want?  You can and it is super easy to do as well.  We now have  84 different styles to choose from and many more getting created and added to our Webon Style Catalog each week.  To choose a new style, please follow the simple instructions below:

1. Start in the Webon Editor

2. Click on the Styles button  in the top navigation bar

3. Find the new style that you wish to use on your Webon site

4. Select the style you wish to you use and click the "X" to close the styles window

Twitter Feed in Webon

Did you know...

...that you can show your Tweets in your Webon site?  Yes, you can, in 2 easy steps!  You can set your Twitter feed to display in your Webon site, by following the instructions below:

1. Click on Add-ons
2. Enter Twitter Username
   - Your 10 most recents tweets will now display
   

If you click on the button, you can edit the Twitter Feed settings.  From the Edit window, you can change:

• Twitter Feed Header Title
• Display Header
  
• # of tweets to display (1-5, 10, 15, or 20 tweets)
  
• Change the Twitter Username 
• Show a link to the Twitter account in your Webon profile.
